Welcome to the first LDRC Newsletter
We are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to all of you as we launch the first issue of the Lyme Disease Resource Center’s Newsletter.
If you have any suggestions, ideas, or specific topics you would like us to cover in future editions, please feel free to reach out to us ([email protected]). We highly value your input and will strive to incorporate your suggestions as much as possible.
It is with great pleasure that we introduce this new initiative aimed at keeping you informed and engaged with the latest happenings, updates, and insights from our organization.
From the desk of the Executive Director
Dear Friends,
Although the start to September has been hot and humid, the calendar tells us that it is the unofficial start of the fall season. My favorite time of year, filled with bright colors of New England foliage, cooling days, and the scent of ripe apples and cinnamon spice. So many reasons to go outdoors and enjoy the scenery! Lyme advocates remind us to be aware as we enjoy the falling leaves and outdoor adventures by taking steps to protect from ticks still active at this time: https://www.lymedisease.org/lyme-basics/ticks/personal-protection.
Fall is also filled with lots of exciting LDRC virtual offerings: practitioner presentation series, book talk, monthly Saturday and Wednesday support groups, peer counseling, and holistic services. October 22 marks the 10th anniversary of our founding (see the event info below for celebrating on the 24th) and we will be celebrating all month! Check out social media throughout October for fun reflections on the LDRC’s history and consider making a donation to support us in reaching this milestone.
The challenge of the pandemic brought unexpected benefits of being able to support people from across the US. A handful of clients reached out from Canada, the United Kingdom, and Mexico as well! We are grateful for the support that allows us to help so many Lyme and chronic illness patients through our free services.
Recently our board of directors has grown and we continue to have more volunteers joining our team. Without them, we would not be able to do what we do. You can learn more about our board and volunteer opportunities here: https://www.lymedrc.org/get-involved.
Grown from a wishful thought in a Lyme support group in 2010, to a registered 501(c)(3) in 2013, to an established resource for Lyme patients and their care partners in 2023. We are the Lyme Disease Resource Center of Northampton MA. Dedicated to serving the Lyme community for the next 10 years and beyond!
Warm Regards,
Maria Malaguti, Executive Director/Founder
